What Should I Do?

New Magazine
Finished performing Zuhr prayer, I quickly went to Sinar Suci Bookstore. I was very eager to buy the latest edition of Tunas Cipta magazine. Now, Tunas Cipta replacing my interest towards Dewan Sastera magazine. Not just cheaper, but also the content of Tunas Cipta is very suitable for the teenagers and those who are interested in literary field.


At first, when I was going to pay the price of the magazine, I was very surprised that the price of Tunas Cipta is only RM2.00. The cashier girl realized that I was surprised, so she rechecked the actual price. Again, I was shocked for the second time. The price shown at the screen was RM4.40. The original price for East Malaysia region was RM5.50.

Whatever.

So, I gladly gave the girl a RM5 note and she gave RM0.60 for the balance.

Tunas Cipta was offically rebirth last month, and this is my second collection of Tunas Cipta magazine. I am awaiting for the next edition.

Praise to God, I managed to arrive at school before raining time.

New President
Alif Azni had resigned offically from being the President of JOSIPA Society.

Today, the Highest Board of Directors made another meeting, with the choosing new presdient as today's agenda. Three potential candidated are selected for the President post: Lukhman (me), Mohd. Qamarul (the Vice-President 2) and Raufa Azlan (Form Lower 6 student).

After so much disucssion, we finally made up our mind to choose Raufa Azlan as our leader.

The second agenda for today's meeting was to discuss about the activities that need to be do next year. Two activities that must be done next year: hadith lecture (every Saturday) and spreading hadith brochure to every class every month. I volunteering myself to do that stuff, since I have interest towards that field.

However, I have no idea how should I do that activities. What is the way should I give lecture? What is the format of the brochure I need to do? And where I can get the moeny for the brochures?

These things made my head felt serabut.

Needs for Changes

Yesterday, I discussed with my friend (who must not be named, to protect his privacies) about several candidates of Lower 6 students to replace Alif Azni holding the position as President in JOSIPA Society. He suggested that to we (The Highest Board of Directors) to choose anybody except our current Head Boy.

At there, he complained about the way choosing our Head Prefect. According to him, Head Boy are chosen based on the vote in the Prefectorial Board (which are just 1/3 from the whole students) and not by students' vote. I kept reminding him that we are not in USA, where Head Student are chosen in a very democratic way.

He also suggested to us that we should change the name of the society. For him, the name JOSIPA is not symboling the image of Muslim students. In other words, the name JOSIPA (according to him) is not very Islamic.

I just be the listener. After all, I just the Vice-President 1.

Insya-Allah, I'm going to bring this topic in our First Highest Board of Directors Meeting (or next) and discuss about it with the other directors.

After all, I cannot force them to use my view. Different people have different view. (now, this is more sounds like Islamic).

Today, during recess time, I just sat alone, with my Jacob crackers and Syariah Islamiah Studies Form 4 textbook. (Well, I suppose you know what I'm doing with that).

There, Mdm. Liew my Add Maths teacher passed by and saw me reading while eating. Then, she have a look to my book.

After that, she said: "I wish I can read this (textbook)."

I replied: "Never mind, teacher. I will translate it (from Jawi scripts to Rumi scripts)."

Nevertheless, what she said made me think deeply. Isn't it now the time to change? Putting ourselves in the old ways made ourselves outdated. This is going against the principles of Islam, which are suitable to any time, place and situation.

I then remembered what I had read in AL ISLAM magazine.

"Apa yang perlu kita pertahankan adalah prinsip syariah dan cuba cipta fikah yang ada sekarang (fikah baru). Sebab itu saya usulkan terutamanya sekarang ini, diwujudkan fiqah tempatan (local fiqh) supaya kita dapat merumuskan keperluan-keperluan kita. Kalau tidak, banyak benda yang kita tidak boleh buat, contohnya aktiviti pemeliharaan buaya, cacing dan lintah.

"Kalau kita lihat realiti sekarang dan pakai ketentuan fikah lama, tentulah kita tidak boleh bergerak ke hadapan. Contohnya, dalam kitab-kitab lama tertulis, buaya itu tidak ada faedah, maka ia bukan harta. Begitu juga kedudukan cacing dan lintah. Jadi, bila ia bukan harta maka tidak boleh dijual beli. Kalau dijual beli maka haram. Sedangkan sekarang ini keuntungan daripada penternakan haiwan-haiwan seperti cacing dan lintah ini begitu besar sekali, malah sudah menjadi satu manfaat kepada manusia," jelasnya.

Sementara itu, beliau (Datuk Paduka Dr. Mahmood Zuhdi Abdul Majid) menyelar ulama sekarang yang terlalu terikat dengan paradigma sempit. Kata beliau, kalau ulama zaman dulu itu masih hidup, tentu ulama zaman dulu itu marah dengan ulama kita sekarang ini kerana paradigma mereka terikat sangat.

Jelas beliau, perkara begini berlaku disebabkan mereka tidak diberi latihan untuk mengkritik dan menganalisis. Terlampau takut untuk berubah. Ada di kalangan mereka ini ortodoks. Jadi, orang-orang beginilah yang menyebabkan masyarakat ragu terhadap Islam. Orang kata, Islam ini sudah habis fungsinya dan hilang asalnya, dan sebagainya.

Bunch of Problems, Reaching Its Climax (III)

This is another part of the expression of my inner feeling. Continuation of Part I and Part II.

Well, as you all know, I had very heavy flu and fever in the same time today. I really could not bear with it, especially when I have bunch of problems.

To be straight to the topic, I told my parents my exam result. As I deduced and predicted, they seemed dislike to hear it, when I said that i got 11th place in the class. Then, they starting lecturing me, saying that I did not study. Gila or what.

If I did not study, what for I had to struggle myself, wake up in the morning to study, then go to the school early, study at the lonely surau. Then, after school, going to the library, study again until I felt that I had been screwed up. They never knew about it (well, I did not tell them).

Then, it is useless for me to ask Mdm. Hajah Rosni to take useful tips answering Biology papers.

I felt that all my efforts are useless when they complained. Tidak berbaloi.

They did not know that I got 24th place in last September Test. They did not know that I had made good improvement this time. Do they know? Absolutely NOT. They even did not ask me.

Hei hei Ministry of Education, what are you all doing? Parents kept complaining us, but we already did our best.

You should change your policies, from examination-based education to interest-based education. We have our own choice. Don't force us to study whatever you had decided, OK?

We have enough. (Only goody-goody people will against me).
